5 Fun Ways To Save On Digital Cameras

Monday, October 31st, 2011

With the Holidays soon upon us and everyone looking to save a buck, we thought it appropriate to write a piece on ways to save on one of the most sought after gadgets of every Christmas season. Digital Cameras.

Everyone wants one and usually new models are introduced each year. If you know which specific model you want, that makes it all the easier to find. Without further intro, below we highlight five ways to save on digital cameras whether you’re buying for yourself, your family or a friend.

1. Walmart.com – whether you like this retailer or not, their prices cant be beat. Usually they have the best prices and if you hate the store experience, then shop online. Go to Walmart.com, look up the model of digital camera you seek and go online shopping.

2. Coupons/Deals/Discounts – if you prefer offline shopping, then try your favorite retailer but take a coupon with you. Try the Sunday paper, check the website of your fave retailer, or buy some on eBay. The idea is to save and save BIG by using a coupon. Don’t be shy, EVERYONE uses them now.

3. Amazon.com – another one of our favorite online retailers and for good reason. They have an excellent selection, great and fast shipping and pretty good prices as well. Definitely worth a visit this Holiday season.

4. Black Friday – this bastion of hot deals is where many do most (if not all) of their Christmas shopping. The deals are *red hot* and if you don’t mind cavorting with the masses and getting up at the crack of dawn – this is the method you should not skip. Everything from laptops under $200 to Plasma TV’s under $1,000 – Black Friday is where the deals are at.

5. Local Offline Retailer – best way to keep an eye on local offline deals is either subscribe to their email list, Twitter feed, Facebook page, etc. Many times a local retailer will be a great source of good deals if you know where and when to look. Best bet is to be buddies with the manager or salesperson on the floor and ask them right out what days will the good deals hit. When should you stop by for killer deals on digital cameras? Let them be your guide.

Hope we have given you some tips and ideas on how to save when shopping for digital cameras this Holiday season.

Top 8 Most Wanted Gifts This Christmas And How To Get Them At a Discount

Tuesday, October 19th, 2010

Every year there’s a list of coveted items most people want for Christmas, this year is no different. Have a look below at the top eight most wanted gifts in 2010.

1. iPad – without a doubt the most wanted, hyped up piece of electronic on the planet. Everyone (and their mom) wants this whether they admit it or not. Best bet to score an iPad is to shop early, like now. But don’t expect any deals or discounts as Apple doesn’t offer any. Want a secret insider tip? One sly creative thing you can do is buddy up with your child’s teacher and see if he/she can net you one with their education discount. Good luck!

2. Samsung Galaxy Tab – this is purported to be the big iPad killer. That remains to be seen, but it will cause a splash and turn some heads when it makes its debut. The Galaxy Tab tablet is due to come out sometime in the Winter, but because it’s new and unchallenged, I doubt there will be a discount offered. Keep an eye out for this cool tablet in 2010.

3. iPod Touch – read #1 above. Same applies with this item.

4. Video Games – best bet to score a deal or discount on the hot video games this Christmas is to try your local Game Stop, Walmart or Best Buy. Oh! and don’t forget about good ole fashioned eBay where sellers will have them in stock as December 25th gets closer. My advice? Two words: Black Friday.

5. TV’s – this is always a big seller around the Holidays no doubt due to the fact that new models are always coming out. Big this year are LED and LCD tv’s which according to WalletPop should be in great abundance at many retailers. As usual shop around for the best deal.

6. iPhone 4 – see #1 above. Same applies with this item.

7. Kindle 3 – the best ebook reader on the market is and will continue to be hot well into the 2010 Christmas season. Why? Well aside from the fact that many consider it to be the best e-reader, the price was reduced last year to a manageable $189 for the 3G and $139 for the WIFI model. Will Amazon drop the price even further before Christmas? Some say it’s possible.

8 . Flip Ultra Cam – this little marvel is cool because of its compact size and high quality video capabilities. They go for about $200 with discounts and big sales coming around Black Friday. I scored one two years ago for $70 at Walmart, you can too if you keep an eye out and get up very very early.

Good luck scoring great deals and discounts on the hottest Christmas gifts of 2010.

p.s. Remember to get cash back at eBates on all your Holiday purchases.

p.s.s. Remember not to overspend too much. Every year millions of people go into debt to fund Christmas.

Kindle Gets Another Price Discount

Wednesday, July 28th, 2010

The Amazon Kindle gets another price discount this year, plus a new look.

new kindle wifi

Today it was announced that the Kindle has a new crisper display, longer battery life, streamlined profile making it lighter and thinner, plus it now only costs $139. That’s a lot of change in such a short amount of time, but we like it, we like it.

I can only assume that the Nook and Kobo will soon have similar price reductions coming soon, heck we might see an ebook reader hit the $99 price mark before Christmas. Wouldn’t doubt it one bit.

If you like to read, the Kindle is a sure bet because it facilitates the following:

  • ability to store hundreds of titles
  • portability
  • fast access to just about any book ever published
  • text to speech
  • free ebooks
  • 2 day free shipping from Amazon
  • lighter profile at 8.5 ounces
  • longer battery life (3 weeks vs 10 days)
  • WIFI built in
  • Native PDF support

Final verdict? Because of this new low price point, we now officially hail the Kindle a frugal gadget.
